Art Deco Exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs

“1925–2025. One Hundred Years of Art Deco”: an elegant immersion at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs

A journey into the heart of the Roaring Twenties

Paris has never stopped conversing with its great artistic moments. Since October 2025, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs has been paying tribute to one of its most iconic styles with the exhibition 1925–2025. One Hundred Years of Art Deco.” A masterful celebration of a movement born from boldness, luxury and modernity — values that naturally resonate with the spirit of the Hôtel Moderniste.

A century of Art Deco through nearly 1,000 works

Sculptural furniture, precious jewellery, decorative objects, drawings, advertising posters and fashion pieces: nearly 1,000 works make up a journey that is as rich as it is spectacular. The exhibition retraces the birth of Art Deco at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, a landmark event that propelled the style onto the international stage.

Elegant without being rigid, decorative yet functional, Art Deco reveals itself here in all its complexity. The exhibition highlights its contrasts, its taste for noble materials, its stylised geometric forms and its constant dialogue between tradition and innovation.

An immersive and sensory scenography

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs offers an immersive scenography, designed by Atelier Jodar and Studio MDA, plunging visitors into the vibrant atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties. Sumptuous materials, subtle lighting effects and spectacular volumes invite visitors to experience Art Deco as much as to admire it.

The dynamic, flowing layout showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of the artisans, designers and creators who shaped this timeless style — still as inspiring today as it was a century ago.

The Orient Express: the ultimate expression of the art of travel

The highlight of the exhibition is a spectacular finale centred around the legendary Orient Express. A historic cabin from the former Étoile du Nord train stands alongside three scale models of the future Orient Express, reimagined by architect Maxime d’Angeac. Beneath the museum’s nave, railway luxury becomes a work of art, celebrating travel as an aesthetic experience — an art of living that resonates deeply with contemporary hospitality.

An exhibition curated by leading experts

The exhibition is curated under the general direction of Bénédicte Gady, Director of the museums, with Anne Monier Vanryb, Curator of Modern Collections (1910–1960), as exhibition curator. Their expert perspective offers an insightful yet accessible reading of Art Deco, balancing heritage and modernity.
